Ian began to paint in the mid 1990s to de-stress, while training as an engineer on a Navy submarine.

Now his works are in private collections up and down the eastern seaboard of Australia and as far a field as India.

He typically works in oil on canvas or linen, but occasionally ventures into acrylic and watercolour. Ian works in realism in a post-impressionist style, but works in abstraction when emotions demand.

Figures and portraits are his passion.  He is currently enjoying painting the beautiful landscapes of the surrounds of Cooma, especially as the seasons change.

Ian has trained with the Melbourne School of Art (Elsternwick) and with the National Art School (Paddington). He has exhibited in Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales.
