Polo Red Gallery is a fine art gallery in Cooma at the gateway to the Snowy Mountains. It exhibits works from select artists in the High Country of the Monaro and the Snowy, and other select artists. The exhibition program changes each month, so new works are available for viewing regularly.
The Gallery is a peaceful space co-located with the studio of artist Ian Lindsday Pfeffer and is open 10.30am-5.30pm Wednesday to Sunday. Local artists also use the gallery for practice and training.
The name Polo Red is drawn from a number of inspirations:
- Polo is a sport of the elite and implies the finer things. This relates to it being a Fine Art gallery.
- Red is a strong colour, with a meaning of prosperity in some cultures. Colours are used in company titles these days, such as Virgin Blue Airlines.
- Polo Flat is a region of Cooma , the start of which is only 300m away, and this helps locate the Gallery for those who know the area.
